Abdulla Zayed

Abdulla Zayed is Director of Development & Investment for Asia and Africa at Masdar. He is responsible for implementing Masdar’s growth strategy by overseeing the company’s business and project origination, development, and investment activities for utility-scale clean energy projects in Asia Pacific, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Africa.

 

In addition, in his capacity as CEO of MW Energy, he manages a joint venture between Masdar and W Solar, a subsidiary of Alpha Dhabi Holding, to expand the renewable energy portfolio of both companies globally.

 

Within Masdar and MW Energy, Mr Zayed currently manages a pipeline of projects of more than 30 gigawatts in over 35 countries in Southeast Asia, CIS and Africa.

 

He plays a leading role in directing and defining MW Energy and Masdar’s strategy. He is also responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and leveraging strategic partnerships with local and international developers.

 

Mr Zayed joined Masdar in 2009 as a financial and commercial analyst and also worked as a quality engineer during the construction of the 100MW Shams 1 plant. In 2012, he joined the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi and rejoined Masdar in 2016 as a business development manager before assuming his current leadership roles within Masdar and MW Energy.

 

Mr Zayed attended the UAE Higher Colleges of Technology, graduating as a mechanical engineer in 2009 and obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management in 2012
